About

Skyler Graham is a freelance writer and educational consultant. After graduating from Duke University, she taught middle and high school English and U.S. history as a corps member of Teach for America New York. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English Language Arts and has developed original curricula for college-level English, U.S. history, psychology, and anthropology courses.

While teaching, she found that her passion was in storytelling — specifically, the stories that unpack and critique the American experience. Whether she's investigating the state of American classrooms, interviewing small business owners about historic landmarks, or editing reviews of nostalgic coming-of-age films, she uses her editorial skills to explore the dynamic nature of American culture.

She uses her teaching experience and writing expertise to guide students through the college application process. Additionally, she helps admissions coaches and student-centered organizations communicate to clients with website copy, parent-facing guides, and more. Her years of experience in arts, culture, and travel writing inform her human-centered approach.

Skyler's work has been featured in ROUTE, Chalkbeat, MXDWN, The Chronicle, FORM, and The Archive. She has been a resource for groundbreaking news organizations like More Perfect Union and the National Education Association.  Reach out to her via email and explore more of her writing on her Substack page.

“After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”
